Edificato in epoca medioevale, il Castello di Viggiano è stato gravemente danneggiato dal terremoto del 1857.
Dai resti se ne può intuire la maestosità: parte delle mura e due delle tre torri angolari sono rimaste, infatti, intatte.
Il panorama godibile da lassù, il punto più alto del paese che si affaccia sulla Valle del fiume Agri, è una meraviglia per gli occhi.

• Le tre torri del Castello compongono lo Stemma araldico del Comune.
  
  

 

Built in the medieval period, the Castle of Viggiano was severely damaged by the 1857 earthquake.
From the remaining parts, one can sense its grandeur: sections of the walls and two of the three corner towers have remained intact.
The view from up there, the highest point of the village overlooking the Agri River Valley, is truly a sight to behold.

• The three towers of the Castle form the coat of arms of the Municipality.
  
  

 

Construido en la época medieval, el Castillo de Viggiano fue gravemente dañado por el terremoto de 1857.
Por los restos se puede intuir su majestuosidad: partes de las murallas y dos de las tres torres angulares han quedado intactas.
La vista desde allí arriba, el punto más alto del pueblo con vistas al Valle del río Agri, es una maravilla para la vista.

• Las tres torres del Castillo componen el escudo heráldico del municipio.
  
  

 

Die Burg von Viggiano wurde im Mittelalter erbaut und beim Erdbeben von 1857 schwer beschädigt.
Aus den Überresten lässt sich ihre Majestät erahnen: Teile der Mauern und zwei der drei Ecktürme sind erhalten geblieben.
Die Aussicht von dort oben, dem höchsten Punkt des Dorfes mit Blick auf das Tal des Flusses Agri, ist ein wahrer Augenschmaus.

• Die drei Türme der Burg bilden das Wappen der Gemeinde.
